The story

Before starting Surfleet, I spent years in investment banking - working with numbers, financial models, and businesses at scale. I understood capital structure, unit economics, and what healthy financials look like. Then I started working with small businesses and saw the same problem everywhere: owners paying hundreds of pounds a month for an accountant who filed their tax return once a year and replied to emails four days late.

I know what good accounting looks like. I also know the difference between an accountant who just processes your paperwork and one who actually helps you understand your business. Most small business owners were getting the former and paying for the latter.

Having grown up in the startup and tech space - helping early-stage companies scale, understand their burn rate, and make confident decisions from their numbers - I built Surfleet Accounting to be the kind of firm I'd have wanted. One that charges a fair fixed fee, handles everything without you having to chase, and actually explains what's going on.

We also built Surfleet OS - a client portal that shows you your accounts, upcoming deadlines, and documents in one place. Because seeing your data shouldn't require a phone call.

Why fixed fees

Hourly billing creates the wrong incentives. The slower the accountant, the more they earn. Fixed fees flip that: we have every reason to be efficient, and you know exactly what you're paying before you sign up. No surprises at year end. No invoices for "additional work" that was never discussed.
